HDI Tuning are able to offer a VNT turbo upgrade which works on the factory ECU with minimal work required. The turbo comes from the 1.6 BlueHDI 120, it’s a GTD1244VZ with part number 819872. An intercooler and exhaust system upgrade is recommended for this setup, although it runs perfectly safe with the DPF and SCR cat installed because it mimics the setup of the BlueHDI 120 if it were to have a Stage 1 remap, so it’s very safe.

You cannot run this turbo upgrade without a remapping the ECU and you can’t drive with it fitted until the software is adjusted. It’s best to fit the turbo once you have the software ready to program to the ECU. The normal approach is to order a MyGenius tool, read out the ECU and get the Stage 3 remap prepared by us, then you can fit the turbo afterwards without needing to drive to a tuning shop.

Results: Up to 180 BHP • 370 Nm

Our Stage 3 remap uses a 49mm hybrid turbo with 52mm extended tips. You need an intercooler and exhaust upgrade, also the clutch will need to be uprated.

The hybrid turbo is not for everyone, the trade off of much more top end power is that you’re going to lose some low end torque because the larger compressor wheel takes slightly longer to spool up. The extra top end power is definitely a lot of fun though!

Please note: For any Hybrid upgrade you need to use the hybrid turbo built by HDI Tuning, otherwise we will not be able to offer a remap to match the setup. Every turbo is made different and we can’t offer a solution that fits them all, lots of development work is required for a setup like this.

This setup can be run with the DPF in place, you’ll come out closer to 170 BHP with that setup as the DPF acts as a bottleneck.
