Volvo 1.6D 16V 110 BHP Tuning options available (until 2010):
At HDI tuning we specialise in just the HDI engines, luckily volvo use the same 1.6 16V block in their vehicles. This is good news for you as you can use one of our great remaps; we're the only company to specialise in just the PSA engine group. We cover Volvo 1.6D 16V 110 BHP models until 2010 (fitted with the Bosch EDC16C34 ECU system). We can remap both DPF and non DPF models and we can also offer EGR delete.
Stage 1 Remap (DPF Friendly) - The mild stage 1 Remap is designed to be safe to run in unison with the DPF system fitted to your vehicle from the factory. This remap gives 135 BHP and 275Nm torque. Driveability is increased thanks to a much more useable torque range with continual power into the higher rev range. The DPF is kept safe by keeping the air-fuel ratio high and hence soot emissions low. We recommend this remap for newer vehicles with low miles.
Stage 1 + Remap (DPF delete)- The full power stage 1 remap from HDI Tuning will take your Volvo 1.6D 110 to 143BHP and 285Nm. As most of the 1.6D 110 models come fitted with a DPF system, it will need to be removed if you want to go for the full power stage 1 + remap. Luckily, HDI Tuning Ltd have a safe and reliable solution which won't give future problems.
We've developed these remaps not only to give optimal performance, but also to remain within the limits of the stock hardware of your vehicle such as the dual mass flywheel and the clutch, and most importantly the turbo.
When a DPF is removed the pressure ratio across the turbine is increased, and hence the spooling characteristics of the turbo charger will be changed significantly. Our stage 1 remap completely re-writes the control parameters of your VNT turbo to suit the change in pressure. This not only enhances the smoothness of your torque curve, it also protects your turbo from over boosting. HDI Tuning's remaps are the only 1.6 HDI remaps designed to protect your turbo charger. We also write out any faults relating to the additive system, so there is no need to replace your additive ECU or refill the additive tank.

If you want to use our online service, you'll need to use BDM100 direct to the ECU. We've produced a video guide HERE detailing the entire process.
We've found that DPF removal makes the 1.6 HDI engine much more reliable. Our reasoning for this is because the DPF stores a lot of thermal energy, so when you shut down your hot engine the turbo core takes a lot of this heat. With the DPF removed the turbo cools down more quickly and there is less chance for the oil to 'coke' and block the oil feed and the bearing. Of course it's important to service your engine regularly with good quality fully synthetic oil. We recommend every 6K miles.
EGR delete is actually quite complex on the 1.6 HDI. As the solenoid has several wires which join to other parts of the wiring loom, it can't be disconnected without giving lots of faults. For EGR delete a blanking plate is required and then the EGR software must be written out through a remap.
You can't remove the EGR without removing the DPF system as it is required during regeneration. If you're not sure if you require EGR delete, please read here.
